FAQs

I am not sure what makeup look I want on my Wedding day. Can you help?
Absolutely. I suggest you begin looking through magazines and find several makeup photos that you like. I will help you create the look you are hoping to achieve, from natural, vintage to modern. I will also help you identify and accentuate your most flattering features to reveal your natural beauty.

How long will the makeup last?
I use top quality long-wearing products and apply makeup technique that is meant for your makeup to last throughout the day. But depending on the person wearing it. You might need to touch up from time to time, such as if you get a little shine on the forehead, put some powder/blot it. Lips might not last as long, due to kissing, drinking, or eating something, you can easily retouch with lipstick and gloss. Hair might need a little pick me up from hairspray due to humid weather, or excessive movement.

Why should I hire a Professional Hair and Makeup Artist?
Professional Hair and Makeup Artist know not only to apply and do makeup and hair. They know how to make it look perfect for photos and up close. They also know how to make it last throughout the day where you meet all types of challenges like weather (wind/rain/humidity/heat), time (how long will it stay), and perspiration (sweat).

Do I need a trial makeup?
Having a trial makeup is ideal so that you will achieve the look you envisioned on your big day.

What happens at the Bridal trial?
We will discuss the details of your wedding including dresses, hair, flowers, theme etc. We will then discuss what makeup, if any, you normally wear and any ideas you have. We will then create a look until you are 100% happy and absolutely love your makeup.

How soon should I have the trial makeup?
You can schedule trial makeup at least 6 months before the wedding. If you book it very early, it is most likely that you will still change your mind or undergo changes like weight loss, hair length, skin condition, which makes the trial makeup useless.

What should I bring with me the day of my makeup trial session?
Magazines, tear-sheets of looks that may have captured your attention, a picture/design of your wedding gown, jewelry, tiara. Also, a list of your makeup preferences.

How far in advance should I book a service?
It is best to book as early as a year ahead of your wedding date.

Do you accept pencil bookings?
No. We only accept secure booking once reservation fee is deposited and a contract has been signed.

My eyebrows are so thick / thin what should I do?
Have your eyebrows trimmed/threaded/waxed around 3 days before the event.

Do you give discounts for your makeup services?
Yes. I am really generous and I can provide discounts depending on number of heads/members of entourage/numbers of attendants but for solo client standard makeup service rates applied.

Can you pluck and shape my brows the day of my shoot / wedding?
Plucking and shaping brows on the day of any photography event is not recommended. Many people are sensitive to waxed or plucked brows for many hours after the service; some even have allergic reactions, especially when exposed to new products and methods of hair removal.

What if I don’t feel comfortable with your makeup products, can you use my makeup products instead?
Yes. Definitely.

Do you do hairstyling?
Yes. I can do romantic curls, dramatic messy looks, and classic up-dos.

How do I prepare before the wedding day?
On the night before the wedding day make sure you shampoo and condition your hair. Before going to bed apply moisturizer and relax and have a good sleep. On the wedding day your hair will need to be washed with shampoo only, completely dried, and straighten before the artist arrives.

Do you own a makeup studio?
I currently do not own a makeup studio. So for your convenience, makeup and trials will take place at your home or location of choice.

Why do you use High Definition Traditional Makeup?
The cost of traditional makeup is considerably lower than the airbrush makeup. I want to cater to all types of clients so I am using a less expensive way to create flawless look that can stand for up 6 hours. Traditional foundation is more opaque, and has a richer coverage. Also, because the finish is in hand-blending, I can work the product into skin that may have some texture issues, filling in all the narrow space or opening. It allows makeup artist to be more involved, more detailed, because we don’t have to worry about ruining a finish since the finish is largely contingent upon the skill as an artist and not a machine. Not to mention, traditional foundation is more flexible when it comes to building up or sheering down coverage, which gives us more control over the final outcome. With many professional brands offering silicone based formulas, the durability of a traditional foundation is more water-resistant rather than water proof, but it looks, acts, and feels more like skin. It will still take patience and a makeup wipe to remove, but not an intense scrubbing. Although, Airbrush makeup is long wearing, water resistant and light weight but it has its place, it is just not for everyone.

Do I need to do any preparation before the shoot?

Yes, I will give you a list to check off and a timeline prior to the shoot.

How long will the shoot last?

That depends on how many looks you want to do. It also depends on how long you have booked the photographer for. A shoot with various looks and costume changes can take a good part of the day.

Do I need to do my nails or do you do them?

Doing nails on the day of shooting is generally not a good idea. Shoots are fast paced and efficiency is very important to complete all task within the time allotted. Your nails should be done the day prior to your shoot. I will happily advise you on what color and style of nails will be suitable for your specific shoot.

Can I bring my boyfriend to the shoot?

It depends on the photographer's rules. Some photographers opt out of having boyfriends simply because some boyfriends interfere with the shoots.  It's best to have your boyfriend iron out the rules prior to your booking, with that particular photographer that may or may not have a problem with boyfriends attending shoots.
